I am a former school district Assistant Superintendent of Student Services. During 25 years as an educator, I served as an athletic coach, teacher, school counselor, assistant principal, principal, and district administrator. One of my greatest joys as a public school educator was when I was able to foster leadership in students and adults.
Dolly Parton has said, “If your actions create a legacy that inspires others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, then, you are an excellent leader.”
I strive daily to practice behaviors that align with this idea.
As a leadership and development coach and consultant, I work primarily with leaders in the education and not for profit sectors.
As a coach I focus on building self-awareness and helping my clients understand and bring clarity to how they operate in the systems within which they work and live.
My purpose is to aid my clients in making the move from where they are now to where they want to be, whether it’s practical changes in job roles or career, personal changes, or making changes in response to emotional pressures and conditions in the world around them. I love ANY conversation where the client makes the decision to embrace their authentic self!
As a consultant I work with leaders to support them and their teams with initiatives and challenges to bring about needed change and stability in their organizations.
I have led professional learning for educators in:
I have extensive experience conducting needs assessments and implementing large-scale initiatives to meet identified needs. These initiatives include systems improvements to protocols for school counseling, registration, attendance, safety, and discipline.
The initiative I led that had the greatest positive impact on students is a school-based student mental health program that brought together schools, community partners, and government agencies to provide therapeutic services and referrals for service for over 1,000 students each year. This was a complex endeavor that required in-depth collaboration between all players, and a fair amount of systems reform, and I’m proud that we were able to build a sustainable system to help our children and youth.
